<\/a><\/span><\/p>\nThe three Sky gazers<\/strong><\/em><\/a> are wooden seats for resting and looking upwards. Located at lat 55\u00b0 4\u20194.92\u2033N, long 4\u00b024\u20199.30\u2033W in the Galloway Forest Park,\u00a0 they stand as a trinity of objects waiting for visitors, an outcome of the two year Yird Muin Starn<\/a> research process. Their form was inspired by a Victorian astronomer\u2019s chair at Greenwich observatory which tips the body back to look at the sky, combined with a portable collapsible deckchair made in Wiltshire 2003.\u00a0 They were made made by Robin Wood<\/a> who worked with Matthews to realise the design jointing them using traditional Japanese doweling techniques, then sinking them 1.8m into the ground on the hill beside White Laggan bothy. Gazing skywards in different directions, the Sky gazers’ <\/em>striking and functional form springs out from the land when walking up to the bothy.<\/p>\n
